Circling Rivers

This company publishes literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. “For fiction and nonfiction, we’re biased toward works set primarily in North America, regardless of the writer’s origin,” according to the publisher. For fiction, send a query, synopsis, and sample pages via email.

Filter Press

Filter Press, based in Colorado, specializes in nonfiction and historical fiction about the American Southwest, especially Colorado. It publishes four to six titles every year. Submit your hard copy proposal or manuscript via mail.

Hub City Press (Submit this month)

Hub City Press is looking for high-quality works by new and established authors, with emphasis on the American Southern experience. The publisher has open submissions in March and April, and again in September and October. Submit your query via Submittable.

Ooligan Press

Ooligan Press, a teaching press affiliated with Portland State University, specializes in works about the Pacific Northwest. It is seeking “regionally significant works of literary, historical, and social value.”  The publisher defines the Pacific Northwest as the region covering northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alaska.

River City Publishing

Based in Alabama, this publisher is dedicated to promoting contemporary American Southern writing, including thrillers, comedy, short fiction, and social history. Send your query via email, and manuscript submissions via mail.

TCU Press

This publisher is affiliated with Texas Christian University. It’s part of the Texas Book Consortium, a group of Texas-based publishing companies. TCU Press is well-known for its regional (Texas and the American West) fiction and history. It is seeking regional literary fiction; it doesn’t publish genre fiction.
