Two small publishers welcome novels of literary merit from unagented writers. Both publishers don’t accept electronic submissions, so be prepared to send your work the old-fashioned way.
Are you unpublished? Unagented? If you’re aiming for traditional publication, check out these two traditional publishers for possible submission.
Permanent Press
Permanent Press accepts only full-length novels. “Our interest is in discovering novelists who have the talent to write exceptional fiction. Though we are quickly gaining a reputation as a publisher of mysteries, we are willing to review submissions of any genre,” according to the publisher. The company is based in Sag Harbor, New York.

Mid-List Press
Mid-List Press, based in Nashville, Tenn., publishes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry by new and emerging writers who are overlooked by commercial publishers. “Mid-List seeks to increase access to publication for new writers, nurture the growth of emerging writers, and increase the diversity of books, authors, and readers,” said the publisher.
Mid-List publishes only book-length works (at least 50,000 words). It doesn’t publish children’s books.
