It’s true that the one thing constant in life is change, but which one has affected you the most? Whether it’s a move to a new city or a divorce or a career switch, Real Simple magazine is looking for stories about dramatic change for its ninth “Life Lessons” essay contest. Deadline for submission is Sept. 9, 2016.

Life Lessons

The writing contest is open to U.S. residents, 19 years or older. There is no fee to enter the writing competition.  Real Simple editors will judge the essays.

Winners will be notified in January 2017 and their names will be published in the magazine’s April 2017 issue.

  1. Have I experienced any huge changes? Well, I’m going through menopause, living in between homes, and getting new ideas for adventures and career direction. Now, it’s just a matter of putting that into less than 1,500 words and entering it in the contest. lol

  2. Lots of luck on your writing, the contest, and everything else!

  3. Hi.

I love the contest idea. I would love to enter, but sadly I’m not a US resident. (Does Mexico count? 🙂 ) Do you know of any similar contests open to an Englishman living in Mexico?

    Thank you.

    • Sorry you can’t enter the contest. I do try to look for international contests as well; I’ll keep an eye out for you. Thanks for visiting and come back again!
